Layout you can choose to do-

After searching for all the desserts for our main subjects in our blog we can start to design our layout, such as the way of positioning your dessert.

You can position it according to your creativity as long as the font and the calendar dates are all synchronized with all the other members, which means the typography should be the same for every one of us so that it looks like it is under a same theme.

Below is some examples of arrangement of my part of calendar using my choice of dessert (the typography and the 28-31 date columns is just a sample the exact design will be reconfirmed soon):

The above arrangements are just some suggestions, you guys can do your own samples too and choose TWO pieces of your favourite and apply it in your 2 months of calendar.

Ice cream for me!

My subject for my part of calendar will be ice cream!
I like it very much and it comes in a variety of shapes and sizes too.
The colourful structure may help to spice up my design too.

Is pie define as dessert???
Absolutely YES !!!
Pie is a baked dish which is usually made of a pastry dough casing that covers or completely contains a filling of various sweet or savoury ingredients. Pies can be either "filled", where a dish is covered by pastry and the filling is placed on top of that, "top-crust," where the filling is placed in a dish and covered with a pastry/potato mash top before baking, or "two-crust," with the filling completely enclosed in the pastry shell. Pies can be a variety of sizes, ranging from bite-size to ones designed for multiple servings.

Please prepare tissues beside you when you are watching those pie. Yummy~Enjoy~^^

3rd emergency meeting in our hostel room.

9pm in the night we launched our emergency meeting for our calendar design as one of our member, Kayli Leng just informed us that some other group already chose the theme of dessert! So, we have to decide whether to change our theme or to remain it unchanged and asked for our lecturer's opinion.

Since we believe that our ideas of the 'elf world' which we will be sitting or standing on the delicious desserts is surely not easily thought by someone else to be exactly the same as our idea, we hope to stick to our plan. Which we will choose 2 dessert for each person and edit our photos of positions (standing, sitting, jumping etc.) onto the dessert.
For an example:
The little girl sitting on the cake above is a photo of my little sister I cropped out from the original photo below:

Some photoshop steps:

Quick Selection Tool

Select the subject with the Selection Tool.

Right click> Select Inverse. Then selecr Eraser Tool to erase the background.
Zoom in the picture and then soften the edge by using eraser.
Select the Move Tool.

Drag the cropped subject into the dessert page.
Resize the subject by clicking Shift Key while adjusting the size.

Use Brush Tool, select black colour and lower down the opacity & the flow of the brush to about 50%.

Brush it at the corner of the legs to make it looks real.

Conclusion, we will continue our work on the dessert first and will ask for lecturer's opinion this week.
